Bognor Heritage Boards Project: Safety Statement

The Bognor Heritage Boards Project is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved in, or affected by, our activities. This includes our volunteers, contractors, members of the public, and project partners.

We pledge to:

  • Identify and mitigate risks: We will proactively assess potential hazards associated with the installation, maintenance, and public interaction with the heritage boards, implementing appropriate control measures.

  • Comply with regulations: All project activities will adhere to relevant health and safety legislation and best practices applicable in the United Kingdom.

  • Promote safe working practices: Volunteers and contractors will be provided with necessary information, instruction, and, where appropriate, training to carry out their tasks safely.

  • Maintain public safety: The design and placement of heritage boards will consider public access and safety, ensuring they do not pose trip hazards or obstructions.

  • Encourage reporting: We encourage the prompt reporting of any safety concerns, incidents, or near misses so that appropriate action can be taken.

By working together, we can ensure the successful and safe delivery of the Bognor Heritage Boards Project, allowing everyone to enjoy and learn from our town's rich history.

In the event of an emergency:

  • First Aid: A designated first-aider will be present or readily available. A fully stocked first-aid kit will be on site.
  • Accident/Incident: Any accident or incident, no matter how minor, will be reported immediately to the Site Supervisor and Project Manager, and an incident report will be completed.
  • Fire: In case of fire, evacuate the area immediately and contact emergency services. Do not attempt to tackle a fire unless trained and equipped to do so.
  • Public Safety: In the event of an immediate threat to public safety, work will cease, the area will be secured, and emergency services contacted if necessary.
