Remembering the HubbuB
Those of you old enough to remember Erik Jack on his hot mobility scooter, drinking and entertaining us in Shane’s Pier Bar, may also remember the Wednesday evening HubbuB, creative Bognorians chatting about our beloved Bognor.
The hot topics of the day, were; you’ve guessed it, the Waterloo Square building site, The Ancient Mariners, renovating the Pier, creative art and culture and the Regeneration of Bognor.
Some things never change but it seems like only yesterday. It was, in fact, 9 years ago.
Smarty dressed Jim, Chris, Sandra, Danny, Jan, David, Clive, Colin, Christine, Kez, Steve, Rachel, Sarah, Jason, Ben, Mike, John, Paul and many more would remember it well and we had good times, discussing many creative ideas.
Sadly when Erik passed away in 2017 we lost a bit of colour and inspiration and our energies and ideas lost some of their enthusiasm.
And with the passing of Jim Brooks and Ro Mauel last year, both loved and admired by all who knew them, we said farewell to two more great Bucganorians.
But the spirit has never disappeared and is still prevalent among Bognorians today, waiting for the right time to re-ignite and coalesce.
Creative discussions about the town are still very much alive and kicking, in various guises around the town today, and many people continue to make positive contributions, day in and day out, for our community enrichment.
Here’s to all of our friends and Bognorians, past, present and future.
